I am starting a line of horse care products, shampoos, conditioner and fly spray.  My brother and I are in the horse training business we are launching a line of training and grooming products.  We are in the New York area, and South Florida in the winter.  I am looking for help with the process, getting started, where to have product made etc.

Be sure to do a great deal of Market research before getting too far. This is especially critical in the Vet market. For example, I have seen some “prestige” products for horses and dogs fail horribly. You need to realistically guage the demand for any high end products. Get actual numbers and don’t go with the emotional response that you have acquired being immersed in the market.

@mdig1 I agree. Market research is so important.  Yet, if you are already in the training business, that means you have a market that would buy products, so … Still new here, so if you’ve already launched, hope it is going well.  If not and you are stuck, I can help you with the development process, formulating or manufacturing. Just reach out.  I have experience from a prior few years in the natural trade sector for products designated for equine and canines, specifically.  I have done R&D for Vets before as well.  I always welcome ‘out of my usual’ projects as it keeps me colorful :)

I only disagree with one aspect of your answer as I have done about 7 of these lines and some “naturally compliant” (natural is marketing). Much like even a busy salon owner, your clientele will not likely move it fast enough, even with multiple sites. The key is to get it into wholesale distribution.
