pH Adjuster with salicylic acid
So I’ve been trying to make a toner with Salicylic Acid (SA), and I’m stuck on what I should use to raise the pH - since I know it will be low
What I have so far:
- SA Powder (2%) - Propanediol (10%)
- Witch Hazel + Lavender Hydrosol (30%)
- Aloe Vera 10x Concentrate (10%) - Allantoin (0.5%)
- Geogard Ultra [Na Benzoate + Gluconolactone mix] (1%)
- pH Adjuster ??? (1-2%)
- Green Tea Extract (1%) - Distilled Water (44%)I know, besides SA Powder, that I have other ingredients that are lowering my pH (gluconolactone & aloe vera) so I know my pH will be pretty low. That’s why I was wondering if Na Lactate or Na Citrate would be strong enough to raise the pH to 3.5-4?
I know something like NaOH (pH=13) would probably be best but they seem to only be selling them in bulks (at least >1lb.) and I don’t need that much!
AND I’m not sure which one to use since there are so many different types like industrial ones and food grade ones. I don’t want to get the wrong one since NaOH can be very caustic if used incorrectly
