Formulating with nail polish.
Hello everyone. I am new here. I am having a bit of a problem. So I am trying to get the correct formula when working with holographic pigment powder, the one that is supposed to show its linear prismatic form. It is 35 micron particle size that is an alternative to spectraflair. I believe it is the diamond prismatic version. The problem is that no matter what base I use, it doesn’t create that linear prism effect. It seems to be scattered. I’ve tried plain clear base, clear top coat and clear base coats. I do know that the bases and pigments are to be transparent for it to show through. I’ve googled and youtubed. But nothing of help. I’m starting to realize this is a secret sause formula. I need to achieve this as it is part of my project goals. I don’t want to give up on this. I am just asking what other ingredients is needed for the holo to show at its full potential and to not look like glitter instead. All feedback is greatly appreciated.

This is a very specialized field, and you are asking a very, very specialized question. The people who know the answer to your question have likely spent hundreds, if not thousands, of man-hours coming up with the answer.
This is not something you will ever get for free. If you can’t afford to pay a nail polish contract manufacturer or a consultant for the answer, you will have to do the years of research yourself.

This topic is paint technology. The fact that people put it on their nails makes no difference - the technology is the same as acrylic car paint. The base is the same. The only difference is the glitter effect added.

I had friend that gave me the chemicals need.. I tried this at home.. even though i was successful the fumes are horrid..
changed my mind completely. I do am interested. in what chemical i can use to add more of an plasticy film. to make polish last longer. basically making a tad bit ore rubbery without compromising the adherence -
There are various paint technologies, the ones I am aware of include acrylic (nail polish) shiny in a nonpolar solvent, matte if water based; not used is the cyanoacrylate technology due to its toxic chemistry; to make it last longer you will need to research the factors that affect this.
