How to Stabilize formulation with colloidal Gold Solution
Posted by Shubh123 on December 28, 2016 at 8:54 amHello Friends, I am making under eye Gel having colloidal Gold solution. But After 6 days the completely loses its viscosity. I think colloidal gold solution was responsible for it. So How can i stable this product with colloidal gold?Shubh123 replied 8 years ago 5 Members · 26 Replies -

It is not possible to comment on your problem without information on the components of your product.

I used sodium carboxy methyl cellulose starch, glycerin,Cationic Gaur,PEG-75 lanolin with colloidal gold solution..Firstly it become a good gel but after 6 days it loses viscosity
-
Do you have any antimicrobial preservative in the product?
-
CMC is anionic, it won’t stay stable in the presence of cationic guar gum
-
Thnx@Bill_Toge……I thought the problem is in colloidal gold…But Cationic guar & CMC creates problem..What u suggest me in place of CMC?
-
What is the viscosity stability profile over time of your product without the colloidal gold?
The number of chemicals that could take the place of CMC reaches into the hundreds - what thickeners are available in your country?
-
@Bozachemist……In our industry…We have Acrylate copolymer, carbopol940,Hydroxy methyl cellulose, Xanthum gum,Starch,Polyacrylamide & C13-14 Isoparaffin & Laureth-7.
We didn’t try the product without colloidal Gold solution so no idea about stability profile. -
Colloidal gold is merely fine gold dust suspended in some medium or other. What medium is it, exactly?
-
@Belassi ;
The formulation is
Phase-A
Water-30ml
Cationic Guar-0.3gm
Phase-B
Water-49.1ml
Sodium carboxymethyl Starch-2gm
Glycerin-4ml
Phase-c
PEG-75 Lanolin-2gm
Water-20ml
Phase-D
colloidal Gold solution-0.5gm
Fragrence
PreservativeProcedur-
Heat Phase A.
MIx Phase B separately & add Phase A to B.
Mix Phase C separately & add it to Phase A &B
Add Phase C -
That is not what I asked, but since it’s only 0.5% it is unlikely to be the cause. Unless my mental arithmetic is failing, this formula adds up to more than 100%
-
You really need to know if you have a stable formulation without the colloidal gold before you go any further.
-
Since you don’t understand what I am talking about, and this is causing me some frustration, I am ceasing to comment.

@Bobzchemist
Sir the formula is stable for 2 months without colloidal gold solution. It is still stable. -
Regarding the gel you have been testing (without the gold). Does that perform in the way you want your final product to perform?
If it does then there is no point in including any gold in the product.

I appreciate you want a stable formulation but what function or effect does the colloidal gold achieve that cannot be obtained with other, more compatible materials?
Does the gold achieve the effect you want (presumably removal of dark circles)?
