Gel Peel off mask - Troubleshooting
Hello All,
I wounder if you could give an advise about a project that I’m working on, a peel off mask.
Current Formulation
10% Polyvinyl alcohol 40-88 Kuraray
10% Etanol
5% Glycerine
1% Solagum
1% polysorbate 20I’ve difficulties in reduce the time of drying now its in 30 minutes and I need to reduce it for 20 minutes.
I’ve tried already to use more Etanol and also tried to use MMB (3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol) without sucess, when I tried to put 15% of Polyvinyl is too tick and difficult to mix.
What can you advice me?

- This is precisely the reason why I did not continue with product development. The possible market demand did not justify investing in expensive mixing equipment to deal with highly viscous materials. Unless you can obtain a suitable mixer, I suggest this is not a good road to travel. -
There are various grades of PVA available in market which you can try. You can also replace Glycerin by Propylene glycol which is more volatile. Instead of using Solagum better to use Gellan gum. U can also try PEG 1500.

Updating my project I manage to make desired dry time and peel off effect but it’s painful to remove it 
. Could you advice how to make it more soft while removing it from the face?

Use more humectant - glycerin, propylene glycol, other glycols.

I do agree with @johnb, better to use Propylene glycol as it is more volatile than glycerin and this volatility helps to dry your peel off more quickly. Which kind of thickener did u use in ur formula? if u wish to share……

I used Luviset One as a rheology modifier.
