Self Foaming Technology
Hi - I’m on a quest to locate a long since discontinued material called PhoenoMulse CE-1. This material was sold by Phoenix Chemical and designed to offer “Foam Burst Technology” to cleansing systems. I’m familiar with some of the alternatives but require this material for a special project. I suspect it was produced by a 3rd party, but have been unable to confirm the source. The INCI is listed as follows: Polyhydroxystearic acid (and) Isononyl Isononanoate (and) Ethylhexyl Isononanoate (and)
Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate (and) Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether (and)
Methyl Perfluoroisobutyl Ether).If anyone is familiar with a supplier, please let me know.

The foaming agents are methyl perfluorobutyl etherand methyl perfluoroisbutyl ether. These two agents were introduced, together with hydrofluorocarbons, as “harmless” replacements for CFC.
There are now moves to ban these alternative materials as they are being shown to be just as environmentally destructive as the materials they are replacing.

I remember sourcing that material some years ago. It turned out to be way too expensive to make any sense in comparison to “normal” aerosols. My source (cornelius) seems to have discontinued the material as well. I don’t know the purpose of your project is but if you are after experimenting with the foaming effect maybe try finding the ethers separate elsewhere. (not as cosmetic ingredients)

There are materials that would do the job such as the currently used aerosol propellants (such as dimethyl ether, C1 - C5 alkanes) but then there is the problem of flammability (the lack of which was the main plus point of the original product).

Have you spoken to the folks at Phoenix yet? John Imperante is extremely knowledgeable - if there’s an alternative he can point you to, I’m sure he will.

I have tried to obtain this material numerous times from my Rep, John Grey. It is still out of stock. We wanted to try it in a beer shampoo to make it “suds up” when opened. This was still the case as of June 1st. You could contact Phoenix directly to see if the issue is resolved.
