Hello, I am making a face cream and need help figuring the percentages. I will be using a pre-made lotion base and I will be adding Niacinamide, Glucosamine, and Panthenol powders.

My container holds 1.5 fluid ounces and I want the cream to be 5% Niacinamide, 3% Glucosamine, and 2% Panthenol. Will someone please show me the formula to use to figure out how much of the 3 powders I need to add to my 1.5 fluid ounces of lotion to achieve those percentages? Thank you!

    N: 45g x 0.055
    G: 45g x 0.033
    P: 45g x 0.022
    near enough.

that’s way to high of percentages.  why not knock those down a tenth of a percent and make some money?

Thank you Belassi! I appreciate it! I thought about it after I asked the question and realized that I could just weigh my 1.5 fluid ounces of lotion and then I could have figured it out precisely, but I will go with your numbers as it’s less of a pain in the rear, and definitely close enough.

Chickenskin, as for now this is just for my personal use so I am actually saving money by making my own skincare products and not paying ridiculous prices. But if I ever do sell them I will for sure bring the percentages down. I am an esthetician so I do actually plan on selling my own products one day. For now I am my own guinea pig. Haha! :)

If you’re going to do this for any length of time, it will be incredibly useful for you to understand how to work with percentages yourself. Excel or its free alternatives are a wonderful tool to assist with this.
