Sodium PCA and Caprylyl Methicone thickening reaction, what’s happening?I just made a simple emulsion of
 10% Capric / Caprylic Glycerides
4% Cetearyl Olivate (and) Sorbitan Olivate
 4% Caprylyl Methicone
and rest Water.Adding 2% Sodium PCA causes the lotion to thicken in a foamy manner, so there’s some reaction between the silicone and SPCA. It can even cause the whole solution to gel, which /could/ be desirable. Any thoughts on whether this is good or bad? The end formulation will be a sunscreen so I wonder if it could affect pigment dispersion in any way.
