  • Cleaning equipment after mixing hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) based gel?

Posted by Anonymous on May 26, 2016 at 12:45 pm

Does anyone know how a mixing container /drum gets cleaned after batch mixing a HEC (hydroxyethyl-cellulose) gel?
Is there a chemical way of dissolving the HEC gel and flushing the container?
I’m specifically referring to say 100 - 200 liter containers that cannot be washed manually with water - and not small lab or prototype setups.

Generally speaking, you need to find out what a gum is not tolerant of (pH, electrolytes, alcohol, etc.) and spray the tank with it, then rinse that off with water.
