I’m trying to get the right fragrance for my Tea Tree shampoo. It’s becoming popular but I need the right fragrances to match the Tea Tree which by itself is typically terpene and a bit harsh.
One of our members suggested Clary Sage and yes, it does well, but unfortunately it clouds the shampoo.
I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with Ambrette oil. I just bought some CO2 extract from Eden Botanicals. Supposed to be musk with linen and tobacco notes. It’s eye wateringly expensive so I am wondering how much to use? Measure it in drops per batch I imagine.

Not sure how much Ambrette you’ll need but if I was blending with it and Tea Tree, I would look into adding Amyris EO, Orange Blossom Abs and Ginger Lily Abs to my arsenal.

Are you still working on it @Belassi or is your fragrance challenge solved?

It’s been over a month so far and the shipment hasn’t arrived. I have solved the problem though, with Mane’s Herbal fragrance. That plus the 0.2% Tea Tree produces a very popular effect. I decided to pearl it, and added 3% Quikpearl which has enhanced the foam markedly. I had to reduce the primary surfactant by 3% because the foam was passing insane.

Good to hear. I like to solve some functional fragrance problems in my free time. Experimenting with a basic perfumery setup, etc… Was looking for a challenge.

Is this for SLS-free? I guess if it’s foaming that much it’s quite a breakthrough.

No, it’s an ammonium based blend, Plantaren APB. Amazing stuff.

The Ambrette oil finally arrived. 1.8mL for $35, that’s roughly $21,000 a kilo. Madness. It doesn’t seem to have a very strong smell. The sample of Clary Sage smells similar to me.
