Cream gel changes color
Good day all,
Please I tried to follow this recipe below to make a cream gel that will be suitable to clear off melasma dark patches on the face. Apparently it came out right and worked but for just two days. The cream changed color despite following the recipe to the “T”. I would love to know how to make this a stable product that wouldnt change color so I can use it much longer. Find recipe below
Grapeseed oil (emollient) 5%, xanthum gum (gelling emulsifier) 4%, Om-cinnamate (sunscreen) 5%, distilled water (diluent) 76.3%, licorice extract (skin lightener) 7%, kojic acid (skin lightener) 2%, glycerin (humectant) 2% and germall plus (Preservative) 1.2%.

This would be a drug/pharmaceutical product. I’m sorry, but I can’t help with this sort of thing - the potential liability is much too high.
Just about the only thing I can say is that this is a dangerous product to experiment with, and I strongly suggest that you not do it at all.

What kind of licorice extract is that? And at 7%? 95% pure glychrrizic acid is only soluble to a maximum of 0.2% in a formula such as that. And 12% gl acid is a yellow-brown colour.
