Cloudy gel with eucalyptus oil

Hi all,

This should have been simple. My chemist is trying to make a clear Ultrez 21 gel that contains 0.7% eucalyptus oil. She has tried tween 20, triton x-100, a combination of these, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil and some others. It is hazy. Any ideas?

In my experience I have had best results with Polysorbate 80. If you read further (I will try to find the article), they recommend starting at 4 parts solubulizer to 1 part Eucalyptus oil and work slowly up. It takes a little finesse to get fully solubulized and hence a clear product.

Also try Poly Suga Mulse D9 or D6. Start with 5:1 solubilizer:oil

@bobzchemist Great choice also. I have had good luck with the D9 and Eucalyptus oil.

No problem. It’s amazing stuff - solubilizes things that even PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil can’t.

Not to put the good folks at Colonial down, they certainly make fine products (and we’re customers), but this is the first new product they’ve come up with that’s really outstanding - nothing else like it currently on the market.
