    Hi all,
Should I adjust pH of my batch before adding preservatives like sodium benzoate or potassium sorbate whose efficacy is higher at low pH?
If I add preservatives like these at high pH, (let’s say 8 or 9 as in a surfactant base) do they get deactivated ?
    Thanks !

The pH needs to be less than 5.5 in the finished formula for SB & PS to effectively preserve. However adding them at a higher pH is fine as long as the finished formula is adjusted to <5.5
