    Hi all

Generally surfactant contain 30 % to 50 % active matter and remaining water or other impurities.
I am thinking if surfactant contain water 50 to 70 % water so microbial testing is require or not ?
I checked generally surfactants specification does not contain microbial limit or testing.
I want to know that why 30 to 50 % surfactant does not contaminate or microbial testing not require.

    Hi Vjay,

If a surfactant contains 50-70% water it should be tested for bacteria/fungi.  If it contains 30-50% water it is less likely to be contaminated, but if it were my cosmetic line, I would still want it tested.

Many companies add preservatives to their surfactant blends.
