Good question. Why don’t you test them both and find out?

I can test it but how I find out? in which way? with active measurement?

generally lauryl glucoside has longer carbon chain thus has higher viscosity than decyl glucoside. and longer carbon chain also tends to be milder on skin. so if i have to answer the question i would say decyl glucoside has better “detergency effect”.

Yes, also their concentration of active matter is a bit different (decyl being around 63% and lauryl being around 53%… therefore the thesis that, used at same concentration in a formulation, decyl has a stronger detergency effect seems right also under this point of view).

However, I have substituted a few times lauryl with decyl in my shampoo formulation (at 4%) and I didn’t notice any difference!
(but let me add that the shampoo had hydrolyzed proteins, 1% oils and other ingredients which would make surfactants “milder” so the effect might have been “masked” by the formula). Hope you understood what I mean :D
