  • Precipitation of SCI - 85?

I have a series of shampoo formulas using sodium cocoyl isethionate - in some formulas it is the only primary surfactant and in other formulas it is one of a few surfactants. Some of the batches are fine and homogeneous, others have white specks that kick out after time - across different formulas. SCI solubilizes easily during batching, but the specks appear at RT after some time.

Analytical testing has narrowed it down to SCI being the contributing factor. It is 85% active.

Has anyone experienced this? What could be contributing factors? I’m new to sulfate-free surfactant systems. Thank you!
