ngarayeva001 and chemicalmatt thank you very much!

    The Formulation:
    Pahse A:
    Water- 55%
    NaCl- 0.1%
    Xanthan Gum- 0.05%

    Phase B:
    Homosalate- 8%
    Octocrylene- 8%
    Octisalate- 5%
    BMDM- 5%
    Abil 9801- 1%
    Abil 9800- 1%
    Dehymuls PGPH- 3%
    Dibutyl Adipate-6%
    Ethylhexylglycerin-0.1%
    Phenoxyethanol-0.9%

Heat both to 80, Add A to B under high shear homogenization, cool to 40 and homogenize again.

I was able to achive a desired viscosity with 4% GMS NSE,
but I would like to know if you have any more ideas about this topic, is there anything I lack in the fotmulation in terms of understanding, in you opinion?

    thanks.

Try using Benzophenone 4- 0.05% for color protection.

Check the final pH of your product, most pigments are pH sensitive.

I’ve put the Blue NO 1 in pH=9.50, it turned Purple after 12 hours.

chemicalmatt, Yes I want to do a shaving gel without the TEA.

this is why I don’t need it as solid.

I’ll try the KOH for start.

    Thank you very much.

Thank you em88 for the obvious.

Dear chemicalmatt , Actually it’s a Formulation question, I want to know if there is a difference between them in a formulation?

Why to use Di or Tri in a formulation?

Is There a big difference? How it’s impact the formulation?

Should I look for something else before using one of them?

    Thanks.

    Hello everyone,

I moved the Dimethicone to the end of the formulation, and added it below 45 degrees.

    I got a shiny cream as I wanted….

and it is stable at 30 min centrifuge at 4K RPM.

ngarayeva001 I’ll move the behentrimonium to the oil phase,

But I’ll like to know how adding stearyl or cetyl alcohol contribute to this formulation?

    Thanks.

Leave the IPM & Capryl Triglyceride.

Add the percentage to the sunflower oil.

Takeout the GMS and OLETH10, Decrease the BHT to 0.05%-0.1%
    Substitute them to Lauramide DEA-0.5-1.0%,
    And Laureth4-12%-15%.

Check the pH in 5% water solution.
If necessary, dissolve Citric Acid in a bit of Propylene Glycol and add to the production process and re-check the pH in 5% water solution.

When SLES70% is converted into SLES27%, it diluted by a lot of water,
At the same time the osmolarity of the solution decreases, due to a lower concentration of salts,
Which gives room for bacterial growth.

In my factory we consume large quantities of SLES70%, and sometimes in the winter we use SLES27%.
Solutions of SLES27% are manufactured according to factory orders and are with the same preservation system as the plant uses and at its request.

You can try to use XanthanGum-0.3-0.5%

Try to use - LAPONITE- Nano particles of synthetic hectorite, give you transparent Gels,

    Or even try- Optigel.

Chemist5000            in my opinion Chemist77  is right,

first you can try the ETHOCEL if you want it to contain only Oils,

However it will be very greasy.

I have formulation for  “Fast Drying SPF30 Gel”,

Using Alcohol as the main ingredient, all the oils you would like, and add Hydroxypropylcelluloce for the gelling affect- try to use Klucel MF.

ngarayeva001 - As powder pure it into the vortex,

    Minimal homogenization- if needed.

It wont take all the out, it will minimize it….. :)

    DAS- Thank You Very Much!!!!!

In your opinion- Should I add the CTAC at the END of the procedure at cool down, Or should I add it with the water phase at the first stage?

I have a product in the European market, which contain the Aristoflex AVC, Aerosol Body Lotion. Viscosity around the 1,000-3,000 cp.

I’m adding it after emulsification, when it’s still hot, so the majority of the homogenization is without the Aristoflex.

Maybe it can help you reduce the air trapped in the lotion.

    Thank you for the comments,

I want to say that this change to thick cream is welcome! I want and need this change, I just still don’t understand how and why it is happening, and what I should do if I want to duplicate it to another formula :)

you all say that the small amount of K-Stearate that is present in the GMS SE is responsible for this change?

    To increase the pH:

TEA, NaOH, Cocamide DEA, Cocamide MEA.

You can stir the Xanthan Gum in glycerin first, before you add it to the solution.

You can try MHEC- Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, That’s what I’m using in other roll-on formulation.

    The commercial name is- Tylose.

;) ;) Dermofeel Viscolid is a natural oil thickener that creates soft and creamy oil gel textures. The powder material solidifies oils by building a crystalline-like structure with no influence on the sensorial profile of the oil.

    I’ve copied it from Prospector.

So you say it’s depend only on the mole ratio between KOH or NaOH to TEA?
