Hello Tom,
This service sounds interesting for us.
We are filling mostly tubes and perhaps some of our customers are interested in the photo quality printing or labelling.
Could you please contact me and tell me more about the M.O.Qs and about the Digital Heat Transfer? Do I need a hot stamping machine to put the film to the tubes?Thank you in advance!
Bests,
Tamas -

Hello Belassi,
You are right the oil prices are lower than before however the plastic packaging industry does not follow strictly these price movements. I tell you why. Because of this “low” oil prices many big oil companies decided to slow down the oil extraction and with this maneuver they made insufficiency on the market which caused price increase. Those companies which produce plastic packaging, started to purchase and accumulate all the available raw materials (granulates) because they were afraid of running out from raw materials and in that case they should stop their production lines. This crazy situation generated many differences in raw material prices. That is a recent issue which started in this year around February.
Second also important issue is the production process which also has major effect to the packaging prices. E.g. by the closures, injection mold technology consumes more plastic raw material than e.g extrusion. Some PP packaging depending on or more the raw material prices than for example PE foil where there is almost no weight. The pot that you mentioned can be made of different type of plastic. Heavier, lighter, stronger, weaker PE, PP, PET etc. This is a very interesting topic and I could write pages about it so if somebody has any questions feel free to ask me.

Hello “ledude”
The question is good. I can share my experiences concerning on tubes which might be similar to other PE or PP packaging.
For the compatibility test we call it “stability test of the packaging” we need around 1.5-2 liter from the bulk. There is a need for 20-40pcs of tubes. We fill the tubes and we put it to a heated cabin where the temperature is constant. (37 - 55 Celsius depends on the test). The test last for 3-6months depends on the customer request. In some cases if the chemical is aggressive and attacks the packaging easily we can see differences after one month and we can decide this is not the suitable packaging for our product and we can finish the test.
What we measure and test:
1. Weight loss of the tubes, we measure and note the tare-weight of the tubes and after several times we measure again and again. The maximum weight loss what is allowed 1.5% / month.
2.Decoration test: In case of printing absolutely not allowed to see damaged or melted text or picture. Very important when the packaging is hot foiled. In case of poor quality the hot foil come down fast.
3. Packaging colour changing: If the chemical attacks the tube, the white tube turns to yellow which is also not so aesthetic and acceptable.
3. Stress cracking test: One of the most important test. If the chemical attacks the tube after several months the tube will be softer and leakage can happen on the sides of the sealing, where there is the most stress. (I hope it is understandable it is easier to show on a picture or personally.)
Not a good feeling to see your product on the shelf of the supermarket and see the inside chemical on the packaging surface.
According to my experiences during the years what I spent in the packaging industry, the most aggressive chemical what I saw was a sun cream. Not a scratch remover paste or a glue or something technical sealing paste, it was a sun cream. It was very weird. What can it cause to your skin?! Anyway I do not buy that product for sure.
Sorry for the long comment I hope it was not boring for you.
Cheers!

Hi, you can buy different type of tubes monolayer, multilayer or laminate PE tubes. Generally when you do not give the component( HDPE or LDPE or LLDPE) for the producer they use MDPE which means mixture of HDPE or LDPE in 50%-50%. You can buy 100% HDPE tubes which advantages are the next: isolates well, resists more against the agressive materials and homogenous with the head of the tube(I will explain it later why is it important). Disadvantage: more rigid and for exapmle for a a hand cream a rigid packaging is not so customer friendly. For a technical product like glue is perfect. It is imaginable to buy 100% LDPE but nobody does because the tube is too soft and works better if it contains some LLDPE(the best quality Linear Low Density Polyethilene) or some percents HDPE. The head of the tube is always 100% HDPE.
There are many options and possibilities if you thinking on filling your products in tubes. I am working with tubes for years. -

MemberJuly 18, 2015 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Contract Manufacturers in France/Europe? 5000 2 oz unit scaleHello we are in Hungary and we deal with contract filling and packaging. What would be the service exactly that you are looking for?

Hello Everyone!
I am Tamás from Hungary. I am in the cosmetic packaging business for 8 years. In this year I made my own company which deals with contract filling and packaging services. My goal is to offer our services internationally. Next to the packaging service I also would like to make my own cosmetic brand thus I would like to learn more about the cosmetic chemist profession.
I can help everyone who is looking for contract filling service in Europe and feel free to ask me if you would like to learn more about cosmetic packaging. I am a tube expert and if you are not sure which tube is the best for your product or which printing technology etc. I would be more than happy to answer your questions.
