while agreeing with the above re content and pH the only real way is to send your product out for a preservative challenge test.

Its more liely to produce a clear product than adding frag alone.

sounds like the guar is not being hydrated. Try premixing the guar with glycerin, add it to the water upfront, mix and heat to 60/65C (not F) till the gel has formed, cool and add the rest. See how that goes.
cheers. -

many thanks for the feedback. It seems a fairly open situation.

google ‘lipstick break test’ it is a thing and there are instruments dedicated to it. otherwise, trial and error after adding additional wax. Try candelilla. Speak to Ross Waxes or Strahl&Pitsch for their recommendation.

40C isn’t overly high and i would use 6mths at 40C to establish a 2year at RT shelf life although there’ll be many comments/counterclaims based on the experience of others. Try centrifuging a aliquot of the emulsion, 5-10g or so. Run it for 30-40min at 4000 rpm (you can calc the g-force) if there’s no separation -all good and you likely have condensation.

thanks Sponge & EM88.
-have tried sucragel in the past and found that, while Ok in the lab, it is difficult to upscale and is very dependent on the manufacturers equipment.
- benchmark (no ingred list) seems to overcome the spray vs suspension compromise. Will continue the search.
