The material safety data sheet of “Fairy” a dishwashing liquid from P&G states the pH of 9. What I reckon is that at pH of 7 the cleansing action will not be sufficient.

My question is that “is Formaldehyde ever used in such products” ? -
Formaldehyde as Formalin. I do not know the quantity to be used. I am more concerned about its hazardous nature and it being legally used for handwash formulations.

The problem we are facing is fading or disappearance of colorants in our products which I think may be due to the reaction between the ions present in the water and the colorant. The colorants as mentioned above are food grade (for example carmoisine E 122 )
