    Hi Tania,
The pH you have to get it’s below the pka of the acids you are working with. For example the lactic acid pka is about 4. So below that it’s ok. As pH more below the pka more effectiveness you will get. But you have to keep in mind that as lower pH more instabilities or incompatibilities problems you could have.

I hope I could help you.

As your pH is below 5 you could try to use MICROCARE SB as a preservative. It doesn’t give many problems (or not to me until now).

If the % of vit C is high remember we would probably have to add a citric (citric acid, sodium citrate) buffer  to stabilize the pH.

About the ferulic acid…sorry I do not have experience with it.

Thank you very much… yes I know its too much % of silicone but I can’t change the estructure… only the elaboration….
Belassi can you recommend me any silicone emulsion stabilizers for other times. I would appreciate it :)

    Thank you again! :)

    Hi!!!
According to my lab testings I would say that:

Mandelic is more soluble in alcohol rather than water and better using alcohol+water rather than alcohol alone (being the alcohol the main solvent).

The thing is that I should probably increase the % of propanediol (cosolvent) in formula. Good idea that I didn’t take into account.

    Thank you very much

you are lucky as I did the same and I didn’t find such information, most I found use propylene glycol. But thank you again

The thing is that we would like to have 3 peelings to different concentration 30% - 40% and 50%. I saw some brands with even 70% in their label (they don’t put the ingredients).

Some of the peelings I found online have the water before the alcohol in their label so it seems that water solubilize the mandelic better rather than ethanol.

Refering to the other solubilizers, according to your suggestions,  1,3-propanediol is better than propylene glycol. And then, glycerin or pentylene glycol? Where did you get all the information? hahahahha I’ve been searching a lot and it’s maddening! I find nothing! I would appreciate if you know any source of information :)

    Thank you again

Thank you, it sounds interesting! I will try it with propanediol and Dimethyl isosorbide. Being in the label after the caffeine means that have to be < 5%.

I will let you know when we get results. Thank you :)

Mmmm…. for stimulate the hair I recomend you hidro-alcoholic solution (for avoid stickyness)  and adding a polyquaternium (conditioner).  Salycilic acid and biotin can help you for stimulate hair growth

    Thank you Belassi.

The thing is that the sources do not really specificate the exact solubility, I found 0,16M in the open notebook science. But in most sources I read that mandelic acid is partially soluble in water and freely soluble in ethanol. So I am confused because this value (0,16M) it doesn’t fix with freely soluble… isn’t it?. :(

We were using sodium benzoate to solubilize caffein. Thank you very much for your contributions! I would have a go :)

We get it using 7% of sodium benzoate but then we realize it’s not legal !!! So I don’t know if there exist a combination of other ingredients that rise the caffein solubility…. I have checked the caffein’s solubility in different solvents and it is said that dichloromethane is 0,532M (water 0,105M). But it’s a cocktal for mesotherapy so I guess it could be toxic….isn’t it?
