So eBay looks promising. A few questions: do I need a stirrer with a clamp to hold the beaker or is one with out a clap ok? What is the rpm range I should be looking for in making creams, face wash, shampoo, facial serums?
What type of blade is necessary to preform these tasks?
In regards to a hot plate, should is get one that has a magnetic stirrer?
Do I need two hot plates, one for water phase, one for oil phase warming?
    Thanks!

Thanks eperfumes. I’m getting desperate, I really need to get some equipment soon and I don’t know where to look.

My budget is up to $1000 for now, if that can buy me anything. I’m crafting skin care products, creams, serums, cleansers, shampoo and conditioner on a small scale now. Planing to sell at some local stores and online. So I would say, home crafting - professional market.
I would say cheaper equipment for now, if I can make it as a company, down the road I can upgrade my equipment.
    Thank you.

Thank you all for your take on this. I just don’t understand then why are these hydrosols sold unpreserved at the risk of contaminating our products?

Does anyone have an opinion on Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate in terms of mildness compared to coco glucoside or the other surfactants? Also any ideas on what I can use to replace Cocamidopropyl Betaine as a cosurfactant in a face wash to increase mildness of other surfactants?

HI Perry, thanks for your feedback. How can you tell that the above ingredient list does not follow FDA labeling guidelines? Also above the ingredient list the formulator list that the product does not contain any waxes, alcohols or toxins. So I’m perplexed unless they are lying???

Thank you Chemicalmatt! For starters, how do you know what surfactants are higher carbon-chain analogs? Also I was under the assumption that glycerine helps boost foam in a face wash, this must be incorrect? I put it in there to help the wash not be so drying. Also Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate is the INCI for SMC taurate paste. What is your opinion on this surfactant?
I appreciate you letting me know that purchasing the surfactants each will save me money.
But from a beginners stand point and for the sake of ease (at least for now) would you recommend cocoglucoside over the blend mentioned above for a very mild, non drying face wash?
    Thanks for your help!

Sorry typo above, it is SMC taurate paste that I mix with coco glucoside.

Great feedback, all, just what I was looking for. Thank you! To clarify the APC count is based on CFU/gram and it came back <1. I like the 10 week @ 45C better, much shorter of a process. I’ll be in touch Microbiologist.

I thought CFU’s were the same as aerobic plate count APC? My guess is <1%
