Also, among the mentioned ingredients, which is best to increase for more thickness?
I think I have enough solid fats , however viscosity is still low, i’m really wondering what is causing that

Has anyone been able to figure out what makes Methenamine a viable acne treatment? The only study I was able to find was a Bulgarian one, but it is from 1997 and not accessible online

I really want to use BHT, however, here in Bulgaria there are almost no suppliers for cosmetic ingredients. I have to use whatever I find in lab-supply businesses.
I have quite a lot of difficulties obtaining numerous ingredients.

I mean it is claimed as an active in the product’s leaflet.

Yeah , I thought that , too. And it is claimed as an active ingredient?
For example the following toner :
INCI : Aqua, Propylene glycol, Alcohol, Methenamine, Fragrance

Thank you very much for the suggestions! As I currently don’t have the budget to afford overhead mixer, I will try to achieve better results with the stick blender and make larger batches.

I’m worried if the head of the blender is at the bottom of the beaker not all of the contents would blend and emulsify, is that so?  When is the whisk prefferred or should I only use the blades-attachment?

Hey! I am not currently using carbomer, but xanthan gum at about 0.5 % to thicken the water phase, although I’m not still sure what is the best ratio to use it.

In terms of method, I have used whisk before with good results and wanted to try if the blender attachment was better. Like you, I am making about 100g samples to figure out if a formula is good and maybe a whisk is better for small batches like that? What do you think?

  • Oh, I’ve been having the same issue. I had propylene glycol in the formula but it increases the sticky residue even more I think.

Also, do you partially neutralise the acid in order to bring pH up?

  • What’s the possibility of this formula being too greasy? I experimented with a similar idea ,however, felt my face was too shiny and oily.

Could adding a silicone make it more dry-feeling?
