    @ketchito, thanks for your help. I am definitely going to try this method. Hopefully it will fix the issue. We are using Dowsil 2- 8566.

    @Abdullah, sorry for the late response. Sure I can.

    Hi Ketchito,

    Thanks for your help. We also tried the same method. Added right after oil phase once emulsion was formed. The batch was looking quite good (Smooth cream) throughout the process. however, when we changed the pH with citric acid at the end, it reacted the same way.

    @waterphase
    yep i’ve used Polyfix XRC 25GP and it is incredibly easy to use. the only thing you have to keep in mind when using this product is with any compounds that have -N or -S in them as that is how Zinc Ricinoleate works. This includes your fragrance.

    your ingredients list looks fine

    @chemicalmatt
    Thank you for that! it currently already has 1.5% cetyl alcohol in it!!!

    here is the emulsion system..

    olivem1000-1%
    Cetyl alcohol - 1.5%
    Stearic Acid -0.8%
    Glyceryl Monostearate -0.8%
    coconut oil - 0.5%
    macadamia oil - 3.5%

    % of emulsifiers to oil is 28%. should i increase the cetyl alcohoL?

    @thebrain
     this is what my supplier gave me as instructions

    1.
    Use 2%

    2.
    Add 2% to 20% water at 40C

    3.
    Star stirring, it won’t dissolve until you adjust the pH

    4.
    Adjust the pH to 7-7.25. You’ll notice that it dissolves and you get a
    clear solution

    5.
    Add to the bulk of your formulation (you don’t want to add the 2% to
    your bulk because then you have to heat the whole bulk up to 40C and that’s a
    massive time/energy waster)

    6.
    Adjust the pH of the bulk to 4.75 – 5.25

    IF
    you have problems with the pH drifting over a long period of time, I would
    suggested you add 3% sodium citrate to step 2 (in addition to the 2% Geo Ultra
    and 20% water).

    maybe this will help?

    i have trouble with bentonite gels and surfactant type formulas.

    with the bentonite gels, i am using 0.2% panisic acid and 1% phenoxy and it is failing my microbial tests. i tried it in a face cream and that combination was fine but it didn;t give me the same result in the bentonite gels

    with my surfactant formulas, they are crashing out the viscosity and makes it go really thin after 2 -3 weeks! it is a simple ALS body wash formula. Using just phenoxy is fine for viscosity but i was just trying to boost the  preservative system….

    if a wax forms a gel at a lower temp will that mean it will be less likely to grain up because it would become a gel at a larger range of temps?

    @Vin  How exactly does one use a buffer to stabilize it? do we just add an equal amount of sodium citrat + citric acid buffer as ascorbic acid to the final forumlation? or pre dissolve the ascorbic acid into the buffer? sorry this is such a basic question! i feel like i should know this but i dont! :(

    @Microformulation  yeh i know about sepigel and have used it. its amazing! but again, clients arent into ‘chemical-y’ sounding INCI names :(

    @ozgirl mine does exactly the same! problem is, it gets so thick (before i add the acids) that the tank stirrer struggles! its an incredbily drastic change in viscosity

    :(
