there are some companies saying it is 10% or 5% or.. but actually is 5% sollution of 50% pure ingredients for example which actually makes it 2.5% pure..

MemberSeptember 1, 2020 at 2:28 pm in reply to: Salicylic acid recrystallization in gel and oils@Microformulation Yes - It easily dissolves in PG, etc or octyldodecanol.
I am trying to make something like 0.15% salicylic acid in gel (sepizen) without recrystallization.

From what I understand I can neutralize salicylic acid with sodium bicarbonate and make sodium salicylate and this will stop recrystallization. Is that correct?
I can do the gel. Mix salicylic acid with sodium bicarbonate and water.. wait to react and add it to the gel.

MemberAugust 30, 2020 at 3:06 pm in reply to: Salicylic acid recrystallization in gel and oilsAnyone knows if it is possible to stop recrystallization of SA with anything else but a salt like Sodium Citrate? I am using Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6 and it is failing with this much salt in this ‘serum’

Squalane or babassu oil(cheaper)

PH1? I dont think you should do this.. for your safety.
I am not an expert but having ph1 on your skin..face and scalp..you can loose your hair and have serious problems with your skin.

Solved. I just added sepzen at the end and left it over night.
lowered pg and glycerin. also.

I am trying to avoid parabens due to marketing purpose..

Update: I have ordered 2 preservatives to test and see if I am going to get a more clearer solution/serum.
I will write next week my results.
1.Sodium benzoate & Potassium sorbate
2. Dehydroacetic acid & Benzyl alcohol (GFecosafe / Preservative Eco equivelent) -
Water 68.05% Glycerin 10.00% Preservative ?? 1.00% Propylene glycol 10.00% SepimaxZen 0.25% Alpha Arbutin 0.50% VitC3GlycAsc 10.00% hialuronic acid 0.20% Water 77.05% Glycerin 10.00% Preservative 1.00% Propylene glycol 10.00% SepimaxZen 0.25% Retinol 0.50% Hyaluronic Acid 0.20% Ceramide 1.00% I have tried Phenoxyethanol and (Phenoxyethanol and Ethylhexylglycerin) This is what I have in stock at the moment and both are giving me a slightly hazzy solution if I add SepimaxZen at the end and wait 8 hours.
or it is very milky if I add all ingredients(mix) and at the end add preservative and mix.

@ngarayeva001 unfortunately - Germall Plus (Powder) - European Union (EU) - Not to be used in body lotion and body cream :'(
-
However, is it anything else I can do? for example, I see this formula
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Aqua (Water), Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Panthenol, Ahnfeltia Concinna Extract, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Propanediol, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Citric Acid, Ethoxydiglycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin -
Thank you I got it just now.

What preservatives did you guys used for Serum(gels) to have a clear solution?
-
dimethicone + Cyclopentasiloxane had the ‘best’ outcome. thanks
-
I received today from makingcosmetics silicone gel Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone/vinyltrimethylsiloxysilicate crosspolymer
After mixing with other silicons and oils including mineral oil looks like a bad product
-
Replace it with Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate ? Why do you have Mandelic Acid there?

you can try replacing Xanthan Gum with Siligel.
Also, I like mixing Siligel with Sepinov emt 10. However, not sure how Sepinov will deal with lactic acid. You can try mixing 0.3% Siligel 0.4% Sepimax Zen and 0.2% Hyaluronic acid High molecular weight.
Also, you can replace sepimax Zen 0.3% with Sepinov emt 10 - 0.3%. The texture would be a bit nicer and add later lactic acid see how is behaving if it is loosing consistency go back to Sepimax Zen.
Not thick enough..? increase %s
