What is Xanthan Gum here for?
Posted by kot on May 10, 2021 at 9:33 pmI’ve seen a few of powdered cleansers two of them have Xanthan Gum.
What is Xanthan Gum doing in dry powder formulas, what is it used for in there? Thank you.BABOR CleansingEnzyme Cleanser

Haven’t you noticed, the two LOI are identical ?Maybe to help with lather or it comes from a pre-mix?If you switch out talc with zeolith, cellulose with cellulase, and maltodextrin with amylase, then you could use it also for washing your clothes too .

They are probably including to form sort of a quick gel during cleansing. That is what I use a Gum for in my powder cleanser.????

Hi,
I think it’s just going to add slip into that formula once applied to the skin with water. -

Hey, sorry, I did not work with this material yet. It probably is, the XG should maybe only enhance it? Just my guess

The Xanthan Gum and Cellulose are in there to give it a bit of body/thickening when reconstituted in water so it is not water-thin when applied to your face. It may also give some body to the foam.

Thank you Mark, cellulose, do you think it might be HEC?

No, I think it is just Cellulose … perhaps to serve as a mild abrasive

I use Cellulose and Siligel in my powder Cleanser it does help with skin feel and creating a more stable thicker foam.????????
