  Usage of CIT/CMIT in Pharmaceutical Cutaneous rinse off products

  Dear members,

  I am looking for studies or clinical evidence regarding the usage of CIT/MCIT in the pharmaceutical rinse off products like CHG 4% Scrub.

  Is it safe to use this type of preservative for Pharma products?

  CMIT can be used in drug products. Context of CHG scrubs can involve broken skin so you’d need a relevant risk assessment.

  Do you have any alcohol in your product?

  Yes the product has Ethanol. Does the ethanol react with CIT/CMIT ?

  I checked Ecolab Hydrex Surgical Scrub CHG 4% but did not find any CIT/CMIT in it.

    Ethanol (even down to ~5%)/CHG can be an effective in a preservative context.
