    Hi all,
so a discussion on another thread made me want to revisit the issue of formulating a sulphate free shampoo based on commonly available surfactants locally. I used the following:
    sodium lauroyl sarcosinate 24%

CAPB 8% - so to stay in the 1:3 surfactant holy grail
Lauryl glucoside 5% / and or disodium cocoamphodiacetate
get an ASM of slightly over 11
for foam boosting i used CDE 1% - no cmea available without import from BASF
    thickening PEG-150 disterate 1%
some peg-7 glyceral cocoate  1% - slightly cheaper than the lamesoft po65 i have in the lab

    poly quat 7 -1%

    1 % glycerine
    1% euxyl PE 9010
    0.3 % fragrance
    some citric for ph
    0.1 of a chelating agent

so the foam is not to great and i struggle to thicken it properly without using a polymer or a gum. i have tried ethylene/sodium acrylate copolymer on the second batch but was not to impressed with the added thickness its supposed to give me

any suggestions on how to make this better?

Decyl Glucoside is a great foam booster (it thins out the product though). I think you can up % PEG-150 Distearate to 1.5%

get rid of PEG-150 distearate and use a high-viscosity grade of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (Methocel) instead; in addition to the the thickening effect, it also boosts the foaming of surfactant-based products
