Hi all, I was hoping you would have a quick perusal of my rough formula and give me some further advice/ help on the things i don’t know yet. Basically what i am aiming to achieve is a Shampoo formulation that is as gentle and nourishing as possible as to not necessarily need a conditioner afterward, even for longer hair, if possible. So far i have the following…

    Phase A: Water to 100
Glycerin 1 (possibly replace with honeyquat at a later stage if it works better?) Kaolin Clay 5
    Bentonite clay 2
    Trimethylglicine 5
    Aloe leaf juice 1
    Hydrolized Keratin 1
Preservative (Really not sure what to use here, i am hoping to make this a no-irritant shampoo and so many preservatives i know have such a bad wrap)

    Phase B:
    Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate 12
    Castor oil 0.1
    Sunflower oil 0.1
    Jojoba oil 0.1
Essential oil 0.5 (i haven’t looked to much into this yet but i’m not sure the best thing to use to avoid irritation but still make a nice scent, would essential oil be the best option or fragrance oil? Im not sure the difference)

    Phase C: Cocamidopropyl Betaine 3
Polyquaterinum 10 - 0.3 (I am really hoping to make something that wont build up on the hair so i’m not sure whether polyquaterinum is okay to use or maybe something like Behentrimonium Methosulfate would be more benifical? I keep getting confliting info on Polyquats, would polyquat 7 maybe even be the best option at a higher level?)
Citric Acid ? (whatever is need to bring the ph to 5.5)

Will add a few extra botanicals in at some stage for “Marketability” in low doses but i want to get a basic formula down pat first before i start thinking too much about these.
I have also seen sodium methyl cocoyl taurate used alongside the SLMI and CABP quite a lot, would it make it more mild if I added this in somewhere also?
Another thing i am unsure of is if i will need some kind of solubiliser or stabiliser to prevent the clay separating or the oil separating, or anything separating really haha. Also not sure if i will need a thickener or not or what to use?
I have come to discover that the clays will be tricky to work with in terms of preserving but i really want to try and have enough in there so the product at least has a clay like appearance, is this too unrealistic or could it be possible? Is kind of my most important aesthetic feature at this point so any way in which it can be worked i will give a shot.

    Thanks you!
