  • preservative system for vitamin C serum

I am working on a 20% vitamin C serum and the preservative system they want to use is potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate.  We are using ascorbic acid and I read a few times now that with sodium benzoate it can cause benzene to form.  I tried to do some research on it but have not found any legit research when it comes to cosmetics.  Can anyone offer some insight please.. should I switch preservative systems to be safe?
