  • Pigment mill for smaller-size batches

    Hi all,

I know this is a recurring topic here, but I believe my specific question has not been addressed yet (please correct me if I’m wrong).

I recently started a new job and I’m learning a lot of new things, having mostly done personal care projects in the past and now being asked more and more to also do colour cosmetics.

I’m currently working on my first pressed-powder project and the lab I’m in is not really equipped for it. I’ve used a Waring blender to grind the pigments which has worked well, but I would like to do a larger batch prior to going into mass production and the grinder is not up to the task.

So my question would be: what kind of equipment would you recommend for grinding let’s say 2kg of dry pigment. The suppliers I’ve contacted all have suggested machines that seem way oversized (geared towards 10kg and up).

    Any recommendations are much appreciated.

    Thank you!
