I believe the stain is achieved using mostly D&C colors (Red 27, Yellow 5, etc.).

They are basically castor oil dispersion, and milled in a triple roller mill to have a spec free usage in the final product.

By base you mean the lipstick or lip gloss base?????

any coated mica(GMS-11S2) might help to extend the color, and use thin pigment blend(INBP45R21A).

I would like to know what is used for lip stain for lipsticks and lip gloss, also where I can purchase ingredients.

Lip stain lip gloss and lipstick. is a combination of castor and wax with pigment, dyes and special effect micas and chemicals such as polymers etc.

the rule of thumbs 20% Beeswax •25% solid at room temperature oil (Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Shea Butter, Lanolin, etc.) •15% brittle at room temperature oil (Regular Cocoa Butter, Palm Kernel Oil, etc.) •40% liquid oil at room temperature (Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, etc.)
    the formuala must equal 100.
so  you can have  the 40 percent be  polyisobutene or triglyceride etc.
in this formula of 100 you also must add in the amount of pigment , TIO etc.

    Generally you have
    Emoilliants
    structure
    thickeners
    polymers
    color
    fragrance
antioxidant  vitamin e, rose mary extract etc.
    preservative such as optphen etc
     you can find product at
    making cosmetics.
    tkb
    etc

    Hello Everyone,

Do i need to start a new thread or is it okay to use this one?
I am interested in starting a lipcare brand - lipstick, lip pencil, lip stain, lip scrub, balms, etc. Am especially interested in using ingredients sourced from Africa. Is there any formulator on here that we can discuss more together?
    Thank you; and Happy Holidays!
