Lactic acid and sodium lactate, no need for both?
If using say 10% lactic acid in a lotion, would there be any point to add sodium lactate for better moisturization?

No its not for better miniaturization but for buffering the pH purpose & alone Lactic Acid lotion pH may be less than 3 & you can’t formulate.
