Ideal SPF boosting film formers for mineral based sunscreens? 20 listed.
Looking to get the below 10% ZnO daily wear sunscreen/moisturizer up from SPF ~15 to SPF30.
Base formula (OIW)
Water, Zinc Oxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Methicone, Ceterayl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Sclerotium Gum.Will likely add Butyloctyl Salicylate as a pigment stabilizer to get from SPF15 to ~20-25. Then the ideal film former increases SPF 25%, decreases TEWL, waterproofs the formula and is safe for daily decade long use - it exists, right?
Here’re the ones I’ve found, spanning from completely natural to completely synthetic, I’m fine with synthetics as long as they have a solid safety track record, especially since this is for a daily wear formula and not just an occasional wear sunscreen. Also waiting to hear back from DOW technicians to see if they have any tips.
