    what is the best way of mixing of Hydroxyethyl cellulose ??
    should it be premixed with water or glycerin ??
    and if lumps were noticed in formula ,, what is its cause??

    I tend to premix HEC with Glycerine then add to quite quickly stirred water (but not so fast that you pull in air). If you can get treated HEC that hydrates slower that helps to avoid forming lumps - Natrasol grades from Ashland are my go-to.

    I always put it in slowly as a powder into the water phase.  Cold water helped too.
