  Hair shampoo formula Issue.

  I have been working with this formula for some days now, seem during rinsing of hair the shampoo give a dry sensation while lathering the hair and bring no moisture but rather a sort of greasy sensation when the hair still wet. Any problem with this formula. or any idea on how I could make the lather more soft rather than hard on the hair.

  1. Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate 70 %                            12.3

  2. Pearlising Agent                                                       3.0

  3. Cocamide DEA                                                         1.0

  4. Cocamidopropyl Betaine                                            2.7

  5. Dimethicone & Dimethiconol                                      0.2

  6. Sodium Chloride                                                      3.00

  7. DMDM Hydantoin                                                    0.10

  One at a time, why dont you start by eliminating that silicone gum??? On the second go you could reduce the salt as you already have some in betaine as well. Once you are done with these, evaluate the shampoo again and see where you stand on moisture and lather harshness.

  Or reduce the silicone gum to half and come down to 2% on salt and check again.

  pH too high could also be a problem, as well as hard water. After you’ve done what @milliachemist suggests, try adding a chelating agent.

  Also, some quats will enhance silicone deposition, allowing the use of less silicone.

  Thanks for the help will definitely put the salt to 2% and try to reduce the silicone or remove it and replace with  some quats. My P.H  range is between 5.5- 6.0.

  Cheers for the links, I actually have Polyquaternium-7 and Glycereth-2 Cocoate in hand could try to incorporate those into the formula.
