Hi, I recently created a hair serum with a silicone base. However, the serum didn’t turn out clear. Please take a look at the formulation below. I’m unsure if the formulation is correct.

    Thank You

    Phase A

    48.8% - Dimethicone
    10% - Cyclopentasiloxane,Cyclohexasiloxane

    5% - Amodimethicone, C11-15 Alketh-7, Laureth-9, Glycerin, Trideceth-12

    20% - DC 1401 (Cyclomethicone, Dimethiconol)

    3% - Phenyl Trimethicone

    5% - Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer

    Phase B

    1% - Fragrance
    0.1% - Tocopherol
    0.1% - Vit E
    2% - Unrefined Pracaxi Oil
    5% - C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate

Try doing a knock-out test. Your refined Pracaxi Oil might not be too compatible with your silicones. Also, why are you using an emulsion? Keep in mind that your Amodimethicone, C11-15 Alketh-7, Laureth-9, Glycerin, Trideceth-12 is an emulsion and has water, which can be also affecting your clarity.

i add Dimethicone & DC 1401 and it become cloudy after i add Phenyl Trimethicone. should i just skip Phenyl Trimethicone?

The level of perfume is too high and can be the reason.

Yeah. And Phenyl Trimethicone also make it cloudy before add any oils even at 1%
