  • Eyeshadow with too much fallout

    Posted by APRYL_H on May 25, 2018 at 6:15 pm

    I’ve been noticing too much fallout in my hand pressed eyeshadows.
    Second, the eyeshadow goes on well dry (feels nice on skin) but with a primer or a little water on the brush to intensify the color, it seems to get “thin” no loner adhering to the skin.

    Any suggestions for reducing fallout and making the shadow stick to skin better?????

    Here are my ingredients:
    Mica, (eyeshadow base consisting of) titanium dioxide, iron oxide, Calcium
    Carbonate, Zinc Stearate, Kaolin Clay, Silicon Dioxide, Carnauba Wax boron nitride ,(Binder) Isopropyl Myristate, Dimeticone, Bis-Vinyl
    Dimethicone/Dimethicone Copolymer.

    Thanks!!!

    if you’re getting fallout, that suggests one or more of your materials is radioactive; I’d suggest using a Geiger counter to work out which one(s) it is

    @APRYL_H - Perhaps you might explain better what you mean by “fall out”

    @Perry
    I think @APRYL_H means that the eye shadow falls from the skin after it’s applied. Or am I mistaken? I’ve had that in the past with a cheap brand too, like it won’t stick to the skin.

    @doreen I don’t use a lot of eyeshadow, but if memory serves me correctly “fallout” when not as mentioned by @bill_Toge is the amount of eyeshadow that drops from the brush/sponge during application.

    @Sibech Yes that is what I meant.  The eyeshadow presses well. But once its dried and I use a brush it gets powdery again.  It doesn’t completely fall apart, but I’d definitely like it to stick to the brush better.  I know Zinc Stearate is a dry binder, should I add more?

    True! It’s been a while since I’ve used a cheap brand and I don’t make pressed powders myself, but I remember it as very frustrating. And also powders that fall apart completely, even when the tin is still rather full.
    The make up that I use may be pretty expensive, but I would never try to make it myself. Way, way too complicated to get it just as perfect.

    Good luck with your eyeshadow project!
