  • Does EGDS/EGMS increase vthe deposition of silicone in hair feom shampoo?

I saw this video from institute of personal care. At 04:10 she mentions polymers+ EGDS/EGMS with silicone in shampoo that deposits silicone in hair.

My question is: doea EGDS/EGMS also help in deposition of silicone in hair or it is  just for looks and i have misunderstood what she said?

Negative. They are pearlizers that do little to deposit silicones from conditioning shampoo formulations. Dilution-deposition coacervate formulation assisted by sodium xylene sulfate as hydrotrope is the “classic” method there.

@chemicalmatt does hydrotrope mean solubilizer for silicone?

@chemicalmatt Why pearlizers don’t function as emollient and re-fatting agent, like other fatty acid esters do, in cleansing products ?

They do indeed. Have you tried them?
