Do I need a preservative for this formula (cleansing balm)?

From what i’ve seen for anhydrous products many use Phenoxyethanol + Ethylhexylglycerin (Euxyl® PE 9010) or Benzyl alcohol, Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid (Iscaguard BOA). Which one would you prefer looking both from safety and marketing perspectiveThere is also phenethyl alcohol + caprylyl glycol (Iscaguard PFA) which is less known (i think) but more expensive than euxyl. Any experience with that one anybody?

Thank you @bigziom! I wasn’t sure if Phenoxyethanol + Ethylhexylglycerin would work. I would prefer to use it, because surprisingly enough it’s cheaper for me than parabens (because I have to order parabens from the US).

Hey you are welcome! In my comment there should be a question mark after “perspective”. So it should be:Which one would you prefer looking both from safety and marketing perspective?I’ve seen both of those peservatives being used but as i don’t have much experience with them I would really appreciate if someone would point which one is better for anhydrous formula. I know that now people are starting to avoid phenoxyethanol in cosmetic products (same story as with parabens).

I am a hobbyist and absolutely fine with “not natural” ingredients. In fact I prefer them in the most cases due to their better performance. I prefer parabens, but I can’t buy them where I live, and have to order from the US, which is more expensive (custom fees are real here). So I would rather keep my precious tiny bottle of parabens for something more serious than a rinse off product.
