  • Concerns during formulating Sulfate free shampoos

    Hi Perry,

My name is Juili and I have joined your forum today. Glad to be a part of it.

I had doubts regarding formulating and optimizing sulfate free shampoos. I have created a Taurate (Sodium Methyl Cocyl Taurate) based shampoo in combination with CAPB and achieved a good structure alongwith generous lather and foaming. Formula also has Polyquat -10 for conditioning.

However the structure seems to be too cohesive for pumping as the packaging is a bottle with pump and the shampoo seems to pump out through resistance.

Please guide as to how can i make my shampoo flow out easily from the pump without compromising the product structure.

    Hi!

I know this message is for Perry, but maybe I can help a little ????. You could try adding Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, it helps me a lot with that type of problems.

What about reducing some Actives surfactants to have lower viscosity?

Just try low dilution and watch the result.

Hi Fekher, thanks. Have started out with lower dilutions of the surfactants, lets see how it goes!

Replacing some taurate with Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate or Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate can save you some money too ????

Noted Abdullah, thanks. Can you share some insights on using Sulfosuccinate? I have never tried this molecule. Do you recommend any particular dosage for shampoos???

It is very easy to use liquid. Final pH should be between 6-7. It depends on your formula
