  • Best nano zinc to achieve transparent sunscreen?

    Hi,

Wondering if anyone has personal experience with the various nano zincs out there?

We are formulating a zinc only sunscreen and are trying to determine which zinc supplier has the most transparent zinc. We have already tried a few and are hoping some folks can share which zinc(s) they’ve found the most transparent. Also, we want to work with a dispersion rather than a powder.

Ones we’ve looked at include Xperse from Umicore, Solaveil from Croda, ZinClear from Antaria, and various ones from Kobo. Of course, under each one of these supplier brands there are often multiple specific products which adds even more to the difficulty in determining which might offer the best transparency.

Has anyone found one of these or a different one to provide superior transparency?

    Thanks in advance.

Shin Etsu’s SPD-Z5 is the most transparent Zinc dispersion I’ve tried in my lab. All those you’ve shared above I have tried (and more) and the one from Shin Etsu is by far the best. The skin feel is also amazing. Be prepared however for its exorbitant price…

Another transparent one I’ve tried is from Daito Kasei’s Daitopersion ZN-50. It’s a tiny bit less transparent than the Shin Etsu one, but the price is much much lower.

As you can see there’s a trend here.. I guess the Japanese excels in this field. Hope it helps.
