  Are you struggling to find a good homogeniser or shear mixer? my research so far..

  So here’s my research so far… 

  the smaller the motor the more RPM (spins per minute).. 

  however, when analysing for large batches  an example is of a:
  Silverson GX20 Batch homogeniser, powered by a 15kw 2900 rpm motor.

  whereas a small lab homogeniser thats 0.75kw can run upto 8000 rpm

  Suitable liter batches (getting mixed) / Kw motor needed

  30-200 / 2.2
  80-500 / 3
  100-1000 / 5.5
  300-1500 / 11
  500-2000 / 15
  2000-5000 / 22
  4000-10000 / 37
  5000-15000 / 45

  so you’d buy the suitable motor, and of course you will need a homogeniser head - you will then need to connect the motor with the head using a ‘motor coupler’ - there are many youtube tutorials to this …

  1) the only thing thats missing from this research is how to control the motor’s RPM ? through one of these:

  Only part left is the actual mixer head for a shear homogeniser - maybe can request from china through alibaba?

  If I were going to construct my own, I would for sure use a brushless DC motor because they can be accurately controlled from 1 RPM to the maximum. So, shortly, I envisage a horde of cosmetic chemists raiding electric car scrapyards for wheel motors and DC control blocks.

  @Belassi  Brushless DC Motor? aren’t they very small and weak?

  also how is it on controls RPM speed? via voltage?

  Hi guys,

  just found out that you need a VFD to change the speed of a motor..

  @Belassi
   you shouldn’t change the speed on a brushless motor, its not made for it! what are you getting people into
