  • What’s the deal with sodium stearate

I have heard that if sodium stearate goes under a certain PH it ceases being sodium stearate and becomes stearic acid and I’ve experienced that myself trying to make things with it; yet I’ve seen several formulas where the instructions state to bring the finished product to a skin safe PH level. How can that be? Can anyone explain sodium stearate to me as I have a big bag of it and haven’t been successful in any of my formulations with it because of the high PH it requires to keep its properties.
