    Dear all,

Would like to clarify some doubts. I am using sodium benzoate as a preservative in a face cream formulation. I was using citric acid to adjust the pH of my cream, but have just read that sodium benzoate with ascorbic acid and citric acid could lead to the formation of benzene. My formulation has no ascorbic acid, but I was using a bit of citric acid to adjust the pH. Would this be a major concern? Should I change the preservative I am using? Thanks for helping!
