    Hello,

Im a chemist & started a natural deodorant project during the pandemic, I use biobased ingredients and cardboard tubes as packaging. Right now I sell around 30 deos a month and I make them in my kitchen as following:

    1) melt all solid/waxy ingredients using a glass beaker on a lab heating plate

    2) using a stand mixer mix the melted and powder ingredients

    3) add into the mixer the rest of ingredients like fragrance, etc

    4) pour into tubes

it works for now but I feel like it´s really complicated, messy and difficult to clean. Also, what if I want to make more, for example a batch of 20 kg. What equipment or machines should I look for? any help or tips are appreciated. Also any ideas on how to dispense the product into the tubes? right now its messy and I have to do it in a rush because it solidifies quickly….

@natiyo123 You asked and I will inform, though you may not have the coin but here goes: a steam-jacketed 316 SS kettle with full side-sweep agitator and offset turbine mixer, flush-fit valve. A low-pressure steam generator (15 - 25 psi) with a PLC-controlled steam valve solenoid and J-type thermocouple for temperature control. Transfer - when ready - through a recirculating, insulated 316 or 304 SS sanitary 2.0 inch pipeline traced with an element heat tape to a shrouded multi-head positive displacement filler having a top-mount plenum for product recirculation, preferably with vertically mounted pistons, then feeding into a reciprocating cooling tunnel with minimum 1 meter headspace for air make-up efficiency with the 15,000 btu air cooler. I’ve manufactured millions of hot-fill deodorants, antiperspirants and pomades this way with few production problems. Oh yeah…almost forgot: you will need a few capable employees on the payroll to do this too.

Thankfully your list reinforces my advice, “Don’t manufacture in your kitchen or where food is prepared.”

I know it´s not ideal to make deos in a kitchen but it´s what I can do for now …

NEVER share production and food prep spaces. It’s disallowed under every credible standard or text. Its a barrier to overcome not accept.

    Glad to hear it.

Where you live, is it allowed to produce your own deodorant at home for commercial use? Do you need permission for that?
