Unscented products
Trying to gauge the popularity of unscented products as some product making decisions are made, so I thought I’d ask here.
Do you think there’s a solid market for unscented products? (Assuming the lack of scent isn’t leaving behind a product that smells terrible.)

There’s a market for it, just not a particularly big one.
Making a good, unscented product is not a technically difficult problem. So, you have to ask yourself, why aren’t there more unscented products on the market?
The answer…because most people don’t buy them.
Fragrance is used because MOST people want their cosmetic products to smell nice. They want the experience of a fragrance during use.
There will always be a niche market for unscented products. It just will never be very big in my opinion. Say, around 10% or less of the total market.

I’m looking into formulating unscented products primarily because fragrance and a lot of EOs irritate my skin. I can’t smell well so smell doesn’t bother me. On top of that, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and zinc oxide irritate my skin or make me break out bad so it makes it extra difficult to find stuff I can use. Coconut makes me break out too, but I’ll need to re-examine it because I didn’t know I was sensitive to fragrance at the time. I also have eczema.
So I would say there is a market for it, but probably more for people like me with super sensitive skin which isn’t a large market like Perry said.
