  • Pilling - dead skin and / or film formers piling up?

I hear a lot of complaints about pilling, also experienced it a lot myself testing La Roche’s silicone heavy Toleriane Cremes.

But if I do gentle mechanical exfoliation washing my face with a wet cloth and cleanser before application, I experience no pilling, leading me to think pilling is somehow silicone mixing with dead skin cells and balling up, or the products simply exfoliate a lot (which seems more odd due to their lack of acids).

    Thoughts?

If that product contains silicone gum blends, those will pill when used with little or no water.

So when used with no water AFTER (wet) exfoliation and drying the skin, they dont pill.

If used before exfoliation, they pill.

Wondering if it’s due to lack of absorption due to dead skin, or dead skin directly causing the silicone to pill up?

Hello. Is pilling the same as peeling? I did a research on google and it says that in both cases its like skin is coming out/Is this it?
