  sodium hydroxide soln ingredients.

  What is the purpose of a Sodium Hydroxide solution to have the following:

  • sodium hydroxide
  • Sodium chloride
  • sodium carbonate
  • water

  Trying to understand here…purpose? If this is a formula then the purpose of NaOH is to keep that carbonate from fizzing away as CO2.

  Not “purpose”.  Those are not added.
  Na Carbonate is a natural contaminant of NaOH - a product of CO2 from air and NaOH.  
  NaCl is a feedstock for NaOH production - prob left over from that process.
