Smooth hair spray
Nice to meet you, glad to be able to join the discussion in this forum, I want to make a simple hairspray using virgin coconut oil, 80% water VCO 10% polysorbate20 5% perfume 3% Preservative 2% Can the experts here tell me whether the above formula is good, do I need alcohol? can the emulsifier last? I’m still confused about hairspray which is an oil type, if you don’t mind telling me what polymer is suitable for me to add to the above formula.

You may want to look at the ingredients in your favorite hair spray and other competing products for a starting point.

I’ve looked at the formula from google, but I still can’t find a suitable polymer for oil-based pomade spray

Why a o/w emulsifier in a w/o emulsion (you could do an o/w with just 10% water using a different emulsifier but that would result in a very viscous gel)? Which preservative and why 2%? Where’s the whole rest of the ingredients needed for a stable w/o emulsion? Why do you want a polymer, what should it do? Why do you ask for alcohol? Explain your Q ‘Can the emulsifier last?’. How are you going to spray virgin coconut oil in winter or when the A/C is on (coconut oil solidifies below ~24°C)? 3% perfume… you seem to love perfumes. Have you ever made cosmetics before? Ever read a book or the like about DIY cosmetics and the basic principles of emulsions etc.?

Simply you cant make a formula from those ingredients at that percentages.
If you have seen it in DIY blogs and like it you can add these ingredients at these percentages without the preservative because you don’t know what preservative you are using, store it in refrigerator, shake it before each use and use it within 1 week.
